At OMRON’ s own factory in Den Bosch, comparing a virtual twin from Dassault Systèmes against the real production line revealed it was running 35 % below its original design performance.
Virtual-twin analysis then found a route to recover 15 % of that gap by reshuffling the machine layout. Combined, the findings point to an estimated 50 % overall improvement, achieved with no new capital investment.
Operators can now see the full production history at a glance.
OMRON also built a recommender, trained on years of specialist expertise, that suggests fixes to night-shift operators when no expert is on-site. This, Tim says, is intelligent manufacturing in practice.
Digital maturity in Europe Despite stories of intelligent factories around the world, Europe is not behind in digital manufacturing, Tim says:“ Digital maturity is simply very unevenly distributed everywhere.”
