E stablished in 1966, Whitman is a critical part of The Estée Lauder Companies’ global manufacturing network. Every year, more than 90 million products are produced for global distribution from the site, which specialises in Jo Malone products and cross-brand skincare. In order to meet demand, the Whitman facility makes use of a 24-hour rotation of staff and an incredible selection of automated lines.

“ Beyond its manufacturing footprint, it is a highly integrated operation, bringing together compounding, filling, assembly and packaging in one location,” explains Ben Smith, Site Manager at Whitman, based in Petersfield, UK.
Industry investments Production is constant at Whitman, driven by three eight-hour shift rotations and a workforce of 1,200. To ensure its supply chain stays as innovative as its products, ELC is making numerous investments in digitalisation and operational efficiency.
“ At Whitman, our manufacturing lines are designed to combine craftsmanship with advanced industrial capabilities,” explains Alexander Gregorian, SVP Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Engineering at Estée Lauder.“ You have highly-skilled teams working alongside automated systems to deliver both precision and consistency at scale.”
Certain lines at Whitman are entirely automated, with products filled and assembled by robots. To ensure high standards are met, technologies include inline inspection systems and visionbased quality controls.
