“ Some of these industries are late starters in terms of catching up to the disruption that technology has brought in the last few years,” he notes.“ There was the whole digitalisation and cloudification wave during COVID-19 and now we have this whole AI wave. For us, the focus is to help industries capitalise on these technologies to transform them and the services they can provide to end consumers.”
To further refine how it supports manufacturers, Bosch SDS invests heavily in research, boasting many consortium-style projects. One that stands out in the context of smart manufacturing is Project SDM4FZ1 aka‘ Software-defined manufacturing for the vehicle and supplier industry’.
The impact of Project SDM4FZ1 Started in October 2021, this 30-partner collaborative project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, focused on the virtualisation of automotive control technologies and the use of versatile smart manufacturing within production systems.
“ This was inspired by the need to push the boundaries of manufacturing efficiency and adaptability, particularly in the automotive and supply chain sector coming off COVID-19,” Digant explains.“ After lengthy disruption, we are still trying to figure out the impacts and how this sector can bounce back.”
