Providing a great example of how supply chain disruption can affect a production line , Jain emphasises the need to gather industry data and assess the integrity of certain supply chains , while also planning contingencies in the event of shortages . This is a particular risk that can be seen in the automotive sector , with companies struggling to procure semiconductors amid the shortage during COVID-19 .
