Optimus is Tesla’ s maiden humanoid robot and is currently being trialled at the company’ s own facilities on manufacturing tasks. It stands at 1.73m tall and weighs, holding a carrying capacity of 20kg. The robot contains more than 28 rotary and linear body actuators, offering up to 22 degrees of freedom per hand. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has described Optimus as central to the company’ s long-term strategy.
