Kris explains there is a high bar for quality, the longest product lifecycles, the harshest operating conditions and the least tolerance for failure.
“ These sectors are high-cost to serve but can provide stability, requiring a long-term commitment and strategy to justify the investment economically,” he explains.
Many suppliers pursue them for a short time, Kris says, then go back to lower-investment, higher-volume segments once conditions become difficult. Micron’ s AEBU has taken the opposite approach. Over the last six years, the business has grown more than five times while keeping hold of its top position in the automotive and industrial market segments, despite rising competition.
