can be calibrated by just two skilled technicians. Most production losses stem from misalignment of process parameters on this equipment, requiring hours of recalibration. Plant management views the potential resignation of these technicians as a nightmare scenario.
Traditional knowledge transfer faces multiple obstacles:
• Knowledge keepers remain occupied with daily routines and lack the time to write detailed instructions
• Education requires months of training plus years of practical experience
• Workforce retention at the plant averages six to 12 months.
Nevertheless, recent developments in AI technologies have offered breakthrough solutions. Generative AI’ s ability to structure voice and video data enables near-instant generation of standard operating procedures( SOPs), eliminating the need for lengthy manual documentation. Autonomous AI supports decision-making and an directly control processes.
As Iurii notes, these technologies allow manufacturers to“ instantly build digital SOPs and copilot execution”, transforming what once seemed an unsolvable challenge into a manageable process.
Designing for user experience When implementing empowering technologies, manufacturers must prioritise user experience within actual work environments.
“ Anything that helps expedite a mission’ s execution, reduce time and / or material losses and improve quality works well,” Iurii observes.“ We, technology providers, shall always think about user experience in the first place, taking into account work environment.”
Context matters enormously. Reading advice from an AI bot while executing assembly steps on a moving conveyor may prove ineffective despite the innovative technology. Conversely, visible visual instructions or voice guidance accompanied by lights, colours, sounds and errorproofing physical actions prove far more ergonomic and effective. Projection technology works perfectly for workbench operations but suits conveyors or rotating tables poorly. AR headsets excel in maintenance and training contexts but have restrictive production applications due to safety concerns.
The key lies in matching technology to specific use cases within a phased implementation approach that allows for adaptation, interim milestones and corrective actions. This tailored transformation roadmap, properly planned and aligned with existing systems and culture, ensures staff preparation and ultimately delivers superior results.
