THE WHEELED ROBOTS MAKING BMW CARS, BATTERIES & COMPONENTS

BMW Group is bringing physical AI to Europe and launching a pilot project with humanoid robots at its Leipzig plant. Hexagon Robotics’ AEON was deployed for testing in December 2025 and is set to deploy again in April 2026. AEON’ s pilot phase is set to begin in Summer of 2026.

“ Our aim is to be a technology leader and to integrate new technologies into production at an early stage,” explains Michael Nikolaides, Senior Vice President Production Network, Supply Chain Management at BMW Group.
