NASA replaced seals to address the leak and completed a successful second wet dress rehearsal later in February. During these fuelling tests, ambient air in the SLS and Orion crew module was replaced with gaseous nitrogen to reduce fire risks and prevent contaminants, like moisture or particulates, entering sensitive systems.
After testing and rehearsals, the rocket was ready to take the Artemis II crew around the moon.“ It was the most special thing that will ever happen in my life,” Commander Reid Wiseman said in NASA’ s postflight press conference. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said:“ As we stand here this evening, the mobile launcher is preparing to go back to the VAB, Artemis III will start being assembled and the next crew will begin preparing to play their part.”
