As Foxconn’ s Chairman and President, Young Liu has diversified the business from a traditional contract manufacturer to a global technology innovator. Rather than just PCs and smartphones, it now makes satellites and even electric vehicles. In 1998, he founded a motherboard company that was acquired by Foxconn in 1994. He then went on to lead its Semiconductor Business Group, before taking the reins in 2019. He introduced a rotational CEO system in 2024 to build next-generation leadership and move away from singleexecutive oversight for core operations. Foxconn now builds regional hubs in India, Southeast Asia and the Americas, alongside actively partnering with local governments, to build up the local supply chain ecosystem. This helps to support local economies and shields the company from global volatility, alongside allowing the company to unlock heavily regulated markets.
