Professor Jun Ni leads CATL’ s manufacturing, alongside being Co-President of its Engineering and R & D. He is also the founding Dean of the Global Institute of Future Technologies at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. He has published more than 500 technical papers, with research covering advanced manufacturing, quality assurance and maintenance systems. His leadership and innovation has been rewarded in a variety of ways, from China’ s First Prize of Higher Education Innovation to a Gold Medal from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Since joining the company in 2020, he has overseen CATL’ s transition to what it calls“ extreme manufacturing”. This is a production system designed to deliver near-zero defect rates at enormous scale. CATL’ s Ningde plant has been designated a Lighthouse site and its Yibin plant has become the world’ s first certified zero-carbon battery factory.
